Physical product analysis

Samples are collected from critical control points where verification of the physical property of the feed or food product is important. After each essential process in the manufacturing process, specific physical analytical parameters will provide relevant information in order to automatically monitor and adjust the process. The CheckMaster™ offers numerous physical product analytical parameters such as e.g. bulk density, texture, sizing, colour, water activity, odour, durability, dust, tapped density and much more…….

  • Automatic adjustment of essential process equipment
  • Reduces rework
  • Reduces customer complaints & recalls

Pet food

During the manufacture of dry pet food, there are multiple critical control points for checking the product quality. The most essential physical parameters typically analysed manually by either the production or laboratory teams are automatically analysed by the CheckMaster™

Physical analytical parameters available:

  • Bulk density

  • Water activity

  • Product sizing

  • Texture

  • Colour

  • Fat absorption

  • Temperature

  • Dust

Aquatic feed

Aquatic feed manufacturing requires substantial analytical routines in order to ensure that the product is within specifications. Rework and customer claims can be substantially reduced when automatically checking the quality during the manufacturing process.

Physical analytical parameters available:

  • Bulk density
  • Hardness
  • Durability
  • Float
  • Oil absorption
  • Product sizing
  • Water activity
  • Dust
  • Temperature
  • Colour

Compound feed

All essential quality measurements are automatically made during manufacturing as well as prior to release. Hardness & durability are analysed and instant feed-back to the pelletising process can be given. Moisture content after cooling is similarly accurately analysed subject to automatic adjustment of the cooler.

Physical analytical parameters available:

  • Hardness
  • Durability
  • Product sizing
  • Dust
  • Colour
  • Fat absorption
  • Temperature
  • Water activity

Forage

Dried forage samples can be analysed by means of manually feeding large size sampling cups into the CheckMaster™. Up to 24 samples can be stored in a carousel subject to NIR analysis. The samples are automatically ground to a preferred particle size which can be individually selected depending on the product type.

Physical analytical parameters available:

  • Water activity
  • NIR analysis

Snacks & cereals

During the extrusion of snacks & cereals, there are multiple critical control points subject to checking the product quality. The most essential physical parameters typically analysed manually by either the production or laboratory teams are automatically analysed by the CheckMaster™

Physical analytical parameters available:

  • Bulk density
  • Water activity
  • Product sizing
  • Texture
  • Colour
  • Fat absorption
  • Temperature
  • Dust

Powders

The CheckMaster™ can be configured to include the most essential physical analytical parameters for powder products. Samples are removed after e.g. a spray, freeze or fluid bed drying process. The physical quality will, in addition to the NIR analysis, provide valid information subject to automatic adjustment of the drying process.

Physical analytical parameters available:

  • Tapped density
  • Bulk density
  • Colour
  • Temperature
  • Water activity
  • Scorched particles
  • NIR

Grains

Grains are automatically sampled and conveyed to the CheckMaster™ for analysis. Within 5 minutes from sampling, a full quality report will be present including not only NIR but also physical analysis parameters.

Physical analytical parameters available:

  • Bulk density
  • Damaged grain
  • Colour
  • Various upon customer requests

Oils

Oils can be automatically analysed in order to define the physical properties. Prior to the NIR analysis, the CHECKMASTER™ will execute a number of physical measurements, thus providing a total quality overview during and after manufacturing.

Physical analytical parameters available:

  • Density
  • Colour
  • Refractive index
  • Temperature
  • Water activity
  • Various upon customer requests
